New Letterboxing dog. Chuck's Amy

From: Chuck Straub (woodschuckstraub@yahoo.com) | Date: 2006-07-28 20:45:34 UTC-04:00
Almost all our letterboxing friends know of the loss of our dog and family member Molly a month and a half ago to cancer. I used to say that Molly was the brains of our letterboxing partnership. Well, I was wrong. She was the heart. With her gone, we were broken. We decided that we had to start all over again, raise a puppy, and have another dog in our lives. She won't replace Molly and can't fill her shoes but she will be "her own person". She is a 9 week old Chocolate Lab named Amy. We got her on the 21st and on the 22nd at 8 weeks old, she was at her first letterbox Chick in a Nest in Mansfield CT. Since then she has been to 4 more boxes (F5). Chuck, she's beautiful! I can't wait to meet her! And what a beautiful
tribute to Molly to have a miniature version of her with you. :) I'm sure she's
happy about your new friend!

Amy is very cute! I just want to squish her. How can you not squish
her all the time? Welcome to the insane world of letterboxing Amy.

well, when i heard about molly, i wanted to email you and tell you about how sorry i was and how i wish i had met her. i didn't quite know what you must have felt, losing such a close friend. since then, i have lost my cat rocky and now know the pain. the difference, you knew molly's time would come. rocky's life was cut way to short by someone in a car. since then i have been pretty vocal with my family about how i dont want another animal to call my own anytime soon. but after reading your email, i feel much better. i understand that it is ok to move on. rocky will never be replaced just as molly will not be replaced by amy. sugar happens and both of our beloved would have wanted us to move on. thank you for showing me that it is ok to do so.

i have never been to fond about owning a dog, but who knows. maybe team new hampshire could become a team of 6.

Chuck and Chickabirdee Congratulations on the new family member, Amy!
I was just checking my Alabama's Getaway LB this afternoon when I saw
that Chickabirdee and Amy had found the box only a few days ago. I
hope to meet you all on the trail some time.

Oh Chuck! She's SOOOOO cute! I can't wait to meet her!

I miss Molly SOOO much! I remember her reaction whenever she saw me.
She would get SOOO excited. I'm going to miss that.

I'm sure I'll have just as many great memories from my time with Amy
and I did with Molly.

Congrats!
